RIYADH: Saudi women tying the knot will now get a copy of their marriage contracts, Justice Ministry said Monday. A ministry statement said that imams who register marriage contracts would now have to hand a copy to the bride 鈥渢o ensure her awareness of her rights and the terms of the contract.鈥� The decision aims to 鈥減rotect the rights of the woman and facilitate procedures for her.鈥� The decision took into consideration that a woman would need a copy of her marriage contract in case of a dispute with her husband and in court.
